Provisional Territory

Between Gavà and Castelldefels, forests and fields spread out across the territory. Here and there, some isolated construction, or just a trace of it. The territory is provisional. According to the plan, 27% of the area will be converted into residential buildings. These photographs are a look at the moment before the possible change.

The set of images, beyond a sum of anecdotes, aims to transport you into this space. Feel heat, cold, threat of rain, wind through the trees, night that comes.

The images want to invite you to reflect on the contrast between progress and conservation. The photographs do not show the change that will come sooner or later. But you can see transformations that had already affected the territory, rubble from farmhouses, demolished industrial warehouses, abandoned quarries. And everywhere the hand of nature, which patiently and constantly, step by step, is reconquering land.
